Roland Schauer Early Career Researcher Award

This award honours a scientist who has demonstrated outstanding research achievements in a field of glycobiology relevant to the GBM. The prize is awarded to excellent early-career researchers whose doctoral degree was completed no more than eight years prior to the application. For candidates holding a medical doctorate (MD), the time limit is extended to a maximum of nine years. Family-related career interruptions may be additionally taken into account, with up to two years per child.

The award is endowed with € 2,000. The prize money was donated in memory of the glycobiochemist Prof. Dr. Roland Schauer (Biochemical Institute, Kiel University). Nominations by colleagues as well as self-nominations are welcome. The GBM would appreciate it if awardees accept the prize in person and give a lecture at the “35th Joint Glycobiology Meeting” (Leimen, Netherlands, October 25-27, 2026).
