What does a scientist's career look like outside of academia and how do you get there? In this talk, Philipp Hanisch, PhD shares his personal journey from academic research to leading a laboratory at Cube Biotech, a company specialized in membrane protein purification and structure determination located in Monheim am Rhein, Germany.
With a background in membrane protein biochemistry and a passion for preserving proteins in their native environment, Philipp walks through the pivotal moments and decisions that shaped his path, covering the transition from PhD to postdoc, and ultimately into biotech leadership.
The session will include a behind-the-scenes look at Cube Biotech's work, including insights into industrial R&D, key technologies such as NativeMP, and what sets biotech careers apart from academia.
Philipp will also speak openly about the opportunities for postdocs in the private sector, what industry really looks for in applicants, and how to tailor your CV, mindset, and goals for a successful application.
Whether you're a postdoc exploring your options, or simply curious about the inner workings of a company like Cube Biotech—this is your chance to learn from an honest, reflective perspective and ask your questions.
We will distribute the Zoom Link to join the event one week before the event via mail.
The GBM Postdocs aims to build a strong network for postdocs to facilitate exchange and support during this fascinating and challenging phase of the career.
