GBM Young Investigator in Biological Chemistry
Dear GBM Young Investigators (to be),
The journal Biological Chemistry (https://www.degruyter.com/view/j/bchm) and the GBM are continuing their successful collaboration, having published several Special Issues in recent years, which highlight work from Young Investigators. This will give us the opportunity for another special issue, for upcoming and emerging (junior) research groups.
Pre-selection will be based on the information provided in points 1-4 (see below) and will be followed by an invitation to submit an article. GBM membership and sole correspondence are prerequisites for submission.
The timeline is:
o Pre-selection: Submit your intent by 31 October 2025.
o Notifications sent out until mid/end of November 2025
o Notification on OpenAccess via “Subscribe to Open” until 28 February 2026
o Article submission until 30 April 2026
o Articles published at the end of 2026
If you are interested in contributing either a review or a primary research article, both of them thematically open, please send the following information to: sduesterhoeft@ukaachen.de until 31 October 2025:
1. Your full name, position (this call is open for young group leaders and senior postdocs who expect to set up their own lab in 2026) and membership status of the GBM
2. Your (or your PI’s) laboratory website
3. Whether you would like to contribute a review or a research article
4. Preliminary topic of the review or research article accompanied by a short summary (max. 250 words)
A membership of the AK Young Investigators (https://www.gbm-online.de/young-investigators.html) is highly appreciated!
Reviews and articles will undergo the regular Biological Chemistry peer review process.
To support the new “Subscribe to Open” concept of Biological Chemistry, which allows OpenAccess publications (https://www.degruyterbrill.com/publishing/ueber-uns/ueber-de-gruyter-brill/open-access/subscribe-to-open?lang=de), we advise you to ask your institution to subscribe to this journal for 2026.
We are looking forward to your contributions!
